# Overview

### What is Kerno?

Kerno is runtime code and security review for coding agents. It gives your agent an independent reviewer that lives inside the session and runs against your real stack, so the code it ships works as part of your system as intended.

Kerno runs locally. Your coding agent drives it over MCP, an optional IDE extension shows you what it is doing, and the portal reports across your team.

* Find, fix and verify inside the session, not minutes or hours later in CI
* Validate every AI-generated change against your real stack before raising a PR
* Avoid lengthy reworks from issues discovered after you've already pushed
* Never manually write, update, or maintain your tests

**For Teams**: Maintain quality and consistency as your team ships with AI

* Every developer ships to the same standard of reliability
* Adopt AI across your team without increasing production risk
* Endpoint coverage that stays current as your codebase evolves, with no manual upkeep
