# Overview

The Kerno IDE extension does two things.

**It gets you started.** Install the extension, sign in, and it starts the Kerno agent for you. It walks you through connecting your coding agent and gets Kerno running without leaving your editor.

**It shows you what is happening.** Once your agent is running, the extension reflects its activity in real time. Environment builds, baseline runs, and validation all show up in the panel as they happen. You can inspect environment status, endpoint coverage, and test results at any time.

### Supported IDEs

The extension works in VS Code and any VS Code fork: Cursor, Windsurf, Antigravity, and Trae. Install from the [VS Code Marketplace](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=kerno.kerno) or [Open VSX](https://open-vsx.org/extension/Kerno/kerno).

A JetBrains plugin is in development. Until it ships, JetBrains users can drive Kerno through any MCP-capable coding agent — see the [Quickstart](/docs/getting-started/quickstart.md).

### What's next
